The Blues being my biggest influence, I decided to keep close to Blues and R+B, but, stretch it as far as I could! Here, I walk you thru songs I’ve written from their inception to completion, showing the chords and explaining the inspiration behind the lyric.

To write songs, it’s good to have a variety of chord voicings under your belt and to have a love of words. My writing has strived to use lesser-used chord voicings and to pay respect to language, staying away from slang and cliche. And, you’ll find a lot of those chord voicings mentioned woven into these songs.

Learning chords and developing a real appreciate of language will give you the freedom you need to open up and tell your own story. And as said earlier: Everyone wants to write a song - and everyone has a song to write!…You can do it!
