Guitar Dojo Instructional Videos

Original Composition Series - Dont' Worry 'Bout Me
Don't Worry 'Bout Me is both simple and complex, demonstrating how much can be done with just two chords using different voicings.

From the album Soul On Ten

Original Composition Series - Soft In Black Jeans
Soft In Black Jeans was written some time ago thinking someone other than myself would be singing it. It was recorded with Renegade Creation, which made more sense than me doing it on my own. This is a pop/rock piece that does a lot with simple triads to open the song up harmonically.

From the album Renegade Creation

Original Composition Series - Thoughtless
Thoughtless turned out surprisingly, even to me, to be a blues. Made me proud to write a rather  emotionally complex song and have it come out this way. These chord voicings are important to learn in order to allow the guitar to stand alone without another harmonic instrument (a keyboard).

From the album Soul On Ten

Original Composition Series - Lateral Climb
Lateral Climb happened pretty spontaneously. The riff and first lyric line just came out of the blue. This is also an unusual take on the blues with a hip little thing I picked up from Albert Collins.

From the album Truth

Robben Ford - E Pentatonic (Part 1)
This is an example of how to build a riff on five tones.

Robben Ford - Diminished Scale Blues
This is a mouthful on the diminished scale and arpeggios and ways to use them. Also a great opening four bars for a blues shuffle using them both.

Robben Ford - E Pentatonic (Part 2)
Part two focuses on the pattern established in the first riff, then elongates the phrase. Notice it is played down an octave (different fingering). Also, a little on "bad technique."

Robben Ford - Essential Triad Voicings
Some simple triad voiceings for rhythm playing; "Oh yeah...There's a 'G' chord.."

Robben Ford - Blues in G
Here I break down a twelve bar blues solo.

Robben Ford - Using the Diminished scale from the I to IV chord,
in a blues

Here are some bluesy things to play using the diminished scale to move from the one chord to the four chord. And..Sorry..The 4th in the key of 'C' which is in the pentatonic scale is NOT in the diminished scale.

Robben Ford - Combining Rhythm
Some playing, and words on groove and riffing within a groove. Groove IS No. 1, you know!

Robben Ford - The Main Ingredients - FREE VIDEO
My two cents about the essential elements that make up all things musical.
